Contractor website design that qualifies the job before the call.

A construction website earns nothing by looking modern. It earns by showing a developer or facilities manager that you have done their kind of work at their size, and by getting the enquiry to your estimator with enough detail to quote. Norml designs and builds the structure, the system and the site behind that.

The portfolio is a photo gallery, so every enquiry starts from zero.

  • Projects are shown as pictures with a caption, and nothing states the scale, the sector, the delivery method or the timeline — the four things a buyer is actually checking.

  • One Services page covers commercial fit-out, civil work and residential, so nobody sees themselves in it and none of the three ranks in search.

  • The contact form asks for a name and a message, so estimating calls every lead back just to find out the basics.

  • Half the enquiries are jobs you do not want, and there is nothing on the site that filters them out before they reach a human.

  • The site was built once, the developer moved on, and adding last month’s completed project needs an invoice.

What our construction web design services include.

Seven things, in the order we do them. Web design for construction companies is mostly information design: the buyer is comparing you against two other bidders and needs comparable facts, fast.

A project record, not a photo gallery

One structured record per project — sector, value band, square footage, delivery method, duration, client type — so a visitor can filter to work like theirs, and so two projects can actually be compared. Structured data is also what lets the portfolio be searched and reused across the site.

A page per service and per sector

Commercial, civil, industrial, residential; general contracting, design-build, construction management. Separate pages, because a buyer with a specific job will not recognise themselves in a combined one, and because combined pages compete with each other in search instead of each ranking for its own thing.

An enquiry form that qualifies

Conditional questions that adapt to the job described — sector, scope, budget band, timeline, location — so what lands with estimating is a brief rather than a name. We built exactly that pattern for Metroplex Homebuyers, routed straight into their CRM with the right owner and immediate notification.

Credentials where a buyer looks for them

Licences, bonding capacity, insurance, safety record, certifications and union status, presented as structured facts rather than a logo strip. We publish what you give us and nothing more; every figure on the site stays yours to verify.

Design system in Figma

Components, states and responsive rules, so the fiftieth project page looks like the first. This matters more here than in most sectors, because the portfolio grows for years after launch.

A build your office manager can run

WordPress, structured so adding a completed project is filling a form, not calling a developer. Photos, specs and sector tags go in once and appear everywhere the project is referenced.

Analytics and search

Conversion tracked per service and sector, so you can see which work the marketing is actually buying, plus the technical and content SEO to earn the traffic. For The Farm Soho the same discipline produced a content system of 500-plus indexed pages an editor manages without touching code.

Construction website design deliverables.

The scope follows the number of services, sectors and projects. A typical engagement hands over the following:

  1. 01

A page map covering every URL, the buyer it serves, and what it has to prove.

  2. 02

A structured project model — the fields every project record carries.

  3. 03

A Figma design system with components, states and responsive rules.

  4. 04

Service, sector, project and careers page templates.

  5. 05

A conditional enquiry form routed into your CRM or estimating inbox with the right owner.

  6. 06

A WordPress build your office team updates without a developer.

  7. 07

Analytics and Search Console configured, with conversion tracked per service.

  8. 08

A handover session and every account and file in your name.

Our process

How the work runs.

Discovery

We read the analytics and follow one real enquiry from the search to the estimate. Not a questionnaire. You get the diagnosis — which jobs the site attracts and which it loses.

[ 01 ]

Architecture

Service and sector structure, the project data model, and the URL plan, agreed before anything is designed.

[ 02 ]

Design

Wireframes first, then the system in Figma. Service, sector and project templates, not a stack of static screens.

[ 03 ]

Build

The site, then the enquiry routing behind it. Editable by your office without a developer.

[ 04 ]

Launch and handover

Redirects, analytics, Search Console, speed, then the files and the session that make you independent.

Construction web design questions.

Have you built a website for a construction company?
Not a general contractor, and we will not pretend otherwise. The work shown here is from adjacent territory chosen for the same mechanics: quoting and estimation software for a manufacturer, a map-based platform for field teams working property by property, and lead capture wired into a CRM. Everything described on this page is either a technique from one of those published projects, named where it is, or ordinary design practice. If a construction portfolio is the thing you are buying, several contractor website design agencies specialise in exactly that.
What does a construction web design agency actually change?
Usually two things: how projects are stored, and what the enquiry form asks. Most construction sites treat the portfolio as pictures, which means a buyer cannot filter to work at their scale and in their sector, and the site cannot rank for the sector terms either. And most enquiry forms collect a name, which means estimating spends the first call gathering facts the form could have captured. Fix those two and the visual redesign is almost incidental.
Do we need a page per trade, or one Services page?
A page per service, and often a page per sector inside one. A facilities manager looking for commercial fit-out and a developer looking for ground-up civil work are different buyers with different questions, and a combined page answers neither. Search works the same way: general contractor website design, electrical contractor website design and concrete work are separate queries that each want their own page.
We do residential remodelling, not commercial. Same thing?
Same method, different emphasis. Residential buyers care about process, disruption, timeline and what things cost — commercial buyers care about capability, capacity and delivery risk. The architecture changes accordingly, and the enquiry form asks different questions. What does not change is that the projects need to be structured records rather than a gallery.
Our project photos are poor. Does that sink it?
It hurts, and it is worth fixing, but it is not the first problem. A structured project record with real specifications outperforms beautiful photography with no facts, because the buyer is checking whether you have done their job at their size. We will tell you which projects are worth reshooting rather than asking you to reshoot everything.
Can the site help with hiring?
Yes, and for a lot of contractors it turns out to be the higher-return half. Trades hiring runs through the same site, and a careers section built as templates rather than a PDF list means a superintendent posting can go up the same day. It uses the same design system, so it costs a fraction of a separate site.
How much does construction website design cost?
Norml publishes its rates on Clutch — $50–$99 per hour with a $5,000 project minimum. A full engagement covering architecture, the project model, design system and build sits well above that minimum. We scope after discovery, because the page count follows the services and sectors.
What happens after launch?
You run it. The handover includes the files, the design system and a session with your team, and adding a completed project is a form rather than a phone call. When a company would rather not, Norml Care covers updates, monitoring and small changes monthly.
Website 2.0 combines strategy, design, development and launch in one engagement, with the enquiry route treated as part of the build rather than an afterthought.
