Motion inventory

Movement can help explain an interaction or confirm a submitted request, but it should not obscure service details or interrupt the form. We specify motion only where it improves the task. Norml Studio works with Clearwater teams from its Florida office in Fort Myers.
A few clients we’ve worked with

Specify motion that clarifies interactions while respecting speed and accessibility.
We do not have an office in Clearwater, and the map is honest about it: the pin is our Florida office in Fort Myers, about 130 miles north-west of our Fort Myers office. The distance changes how easy it is to meet, not how the work runs.
Animated transitions delay access to the specifications or enquiry action.
Important information appears only after a scroll effect completes.
The mobile version inherits desktop timing and feels slow.
People who request reduced motion still receive the full animation.
We design motion alongside form states, mobile reading order and reduced-motion settings. We choose interaction moments where motion improves feedback or explanation, then specify timing, easing, responsive behaviour and reduced-motion states. Implementation and performance checks can be included with development or handed to another team.
Review the current transitions and identify the moments that need feedback.
Describe entry, exit and state-change behaviour for selected components.
Provide a usable alternative when animation is disabled or limited.
Document timing, triggers and acceptance checks for developers.
The handoff makes animation behaviour testable.
A motion inventory and purpose for each selected effect.
Annotated prototypes or specifications for key transitions.
Mobile and reduced-motion variants.
Implementation and performance review criteria.
Our process
Select moments where movement helps the user understand a change.
[ 01 ]Test timing and behaviour on representative devices.
[ 02 ]Define reduced-motion and non-JavaScript behaviour.
[ 03 ]Check the implemented result when development is included.

“I've spent 10 years working across development and marketing. I started as a developer, but design, SEO and advertising were already part of the job. That taught me to treat a website as one system: the business, the content, the design and the code have to work together. At Norml, I lead the architecture behind our work and stay involved wherever strategy, design, development and search meet.”
