Shopify and HubSpot integration

Connect Shopify purchase context with HubSpot using the current data-sync capabilities before adding custom code. We review customer matching, ecommerce records and existing imports so your team can use the CRM without creating a second version of each order.

What the connection includes

We agree on the records, fields and operating rules before connecting Shopify and HubSpot. The scope below defines the work to review together.

Data flow
The native Shopify data-sync connection supports defined object directions. Shopify orders flow into HubSpot one-way; customer and other object settings are reviewed individually, with Shopify retaining ownership of store transactions.

Native object coverage

We inspect the current Shopify data-sync app and identify the supported customer, product, order and cart records relevant to your team. Custom fields and store metafields are checked against actual connector support.

Customer matching and existing imports

An existing HubSpot contact may already represent a Shopify customer. We review matching and filters before initial synchronization, and inspect previous order or cart imports that could create duplicates.

Purchase context and consent

The scope defines the order details staff need and which permission fields are available. Buying a product does not automatically establish marketing permission, and unsupported fields are not silently replaced with guessed values.

What we need to scope the work

Both accounts and current connectors

Provide the Shopify store, HubSpot portal and any older Shopify app or import process. We verify permissions, account features and existing record ownership before changing synchronization.

Record and filter decisions

Agree on which customers and historical records should be included, the intended field owners and the treatment of existing data. Initial synchronization can affect many records and must be reconciled.

Workflow boundaries

HubSpot workflows reacting to imported records need review before release. Campaign sending, store order edits and fulfillment actions are separate scope decisions rather than automatic consequences of the connection.

How we build and check the connection

  1. Inspect native coverage

Compare your required fields with the current data-sync app. Record supported directions, unavailable fields and any justified need for a separate API extension.

  2. Configure and test a bounded set

Verify customer matches and representative purchase records. Check historical filters and compare an existing imported order with a newly synchronized one.

  3. Reconcile and hand over

Review duplicate risks and synchronization errors, then document object directions, filters and unsupported fields. Confirm which team monitors the connection and controls future mapping changes.

Integration questions

Which Shopify records sync natively?
The current app supports defined customer and ecommerce object mappings. We verify the available objects, fields and directions in your account before specifying the project; native coverage is not a promise that every metafield transfers.
Can HubSpot change a Shopify order?
Not through the native order sync described here. Shopify orders synchronize into HubSpot one-way. Any proposed write-back requires a separately designed and authorized connection.
Will existing contacts match without duplicates?
We review customer-matching rules and existing data before activation. Orders and carts have their own duplicate risks, particularly when records were already imported, so contact matching alone is not sufficient.
Does a purchase subscribe the customer to marketing?
No. Purchase history and permission state are different information. The connection preserves supported consent inputs and any marketing enrollment follows an explicitly agreed rule.
Share your website and one example of the record you need in HubSpot. We will review the existing setup, agree on the data mapping and identify the access needed.
