WordPress AI management with MCP

Your team can describe a website change in a chat. The missing connection is permission to perform that change in WordPress. We connect a supported AI client to selected site capabilities, starting with the content and administrative tasks you name. Each enabled action has a defined input, permission check and result.

WordPress actions we can connect

The first scope is a short list of website jobs, such as finding a page, inspecting its fields or preparing a content update. Available actions depend on the installed WordPress code and the selected AI client.

WordPress + MCP
Data flow
An authenticated AI client requests an enabled WordPress action through MCP. WordPress remains the source of truth for content and user permissions. Requested writes use the agreed draft or approval path; the assistant receives the saved result or a clear failure.

Expose selected site abilities

We inspect the site’s registered abilities and add narrowly defined actions where the required functionality is missing. Installing the MCP Adapter alone does not expose every plugin setting, page-builder control or content field.

Control reads and writes

Specify which content types and fields the connected identity can access. Draft updates, publication and deletion receive separate treatment. Permission checks stay on the WordPress side so a chat instruction cannot grant additional access.

Record and recover changes

For the agreed write actions, define the review checkpoint, saved identifiers and recovery method. WordPress revisions can support eligible content changes; plugin configuration and external effects may need a different recovery procedure.

What we need before building

Website and client details

Provide the site URL, WordPress version, relevant plugins and chosen AI client. We check the available transport, authentication route and client or workspace restrictions before promising a connection.

Named editorial permissions

Choose the users, content fields and permitted actions. Access credentials must belong to the agreed account, with revocation documented. A broad administrator credential is not a substitute for defining the job.

Examples and a reviewer

Supply typical requests and changes that must be refused. Name the person who approves website edits and owns the recovery decision when a request produces an unexpected result.

How we build and test it

  1. Map one website job

Trace a requested edit in the existing site and record the required fields, permissions and expected saved state.

  2. Connect and test the action

Test a valid request, denied permission, missing page and unsupported field. Check the saved WordPress record, not only the assistant’s reply.

  3. Hand over operating rules

Document enabled actions, review steps, credential revocation and recovery. Add further capabilities only after their inputs and effects are agreed.

Questions about this implementation

Can Claude manage our WordPress site?
A compatible Claude client can call exposed WordPress abilities through an appropriate MCP connection. We verify the client, transport and authentication together. The scope depends on what the website exposes; compatibility with one client does not establish compatibility with every AI product.
Does MCP give the assistant access to every plugin?
No. The adapter connects registered, exposed abilities. A plugin feature may require a separate ability or supported API implementation, including its own permission and input checks.
Can changes stay as drafts?
Yes, where the selected content type and write action support drafts. We design that action around the draft state and test that it does not publish. Settings changes need their own review path because they may take effect immediately.
Is this the same as AI content writing?
This work connects the assistant to website operations. Researching facts, rewriting articles and running an editorial refresh are separate workflows that can use the connection once its boundaries are defined.
Share your website, preferred AI client and one change your team wants to request in chat. We will identify the required site action and its approval path.
