WordPress and Notion integration

Connect selected WordPress content or requests with a Notion workspace your team can maintain. We map the properties and content that need to move, define publishing ownership and check where each platform’s content structure needs a different representation.

What the connection includes

We agree on the records, fields and operating rules before connecting WordPress and Notion. The scope below defines the work to review together.

Connected systems
WordPress + Notion
Data flow
Each connection has a defined direction: WordPress can supply requests or content records to Notion, or an approved Notion data source can supply selected WordPress fields. Publishing status stays with the explicitly named system and is never inferred from an arbitrary status label.

Properties and record identity

We map a Notion data source and its property types against WordPress content types or submission records. Stable record identifiers allow updates without relying on titles, which editors may change.

Page content and media

Rich text, page blocks, embedded content and files require a content map as well as property mapping. We select the supported content that should transfer and document anything that remains a link or requires a WordPress-specific layout.

Incremental updates and visibility

The scope defines which changes trigger an update, what happens to removed records and which private properties must remain internal. Public website publishing requires an explicit status rule and a separate access check.

What we need to scope the work

A real workspace structure

Provide the intended Notion data source, its properties and representative pages. The connection must have access to the relevant content; being able to see a page yourself does not establish API access.

An editing owner

Decide where each field is maintained and who controls public status. Two-way updates need conflict rules, while multi-person approvals require their own workflow scope.

A bounded content model

Notion is not a replacement database for every WordPress feature. Store orders, member accounts and plugin-owned data require separate models and must not be copied into general workspace pages by assumption.

How we build and check the connection

  1. Map a representative page

Choose content with the property types, media and links that matter. Agree on its destination structure and identify fields that remain internal.

  2. Build the selected transfer

Implement supported property and content operations. Test an edited title, cleared field, missing relation and content that cannot be represented directly.

  3. Verify publishing and recovery

Compare both records, check access and public visibility, and exercise failed-update recovery. Hand over the ownership map and the procedure for changing properties safely.

Integration questions

Can rich content and files synchronize?
Selected supported content can be mapped, but the two editors do not have identical block models. We review representative pages and define the handling of media, embeds and unsupported blocks before promising fidelity.
Which system controls publication?
The scope names that system and the exact status rule. A Notion status change does not publish WordPress content unless the integration is explicitly built and tested to do that.
Can Notion properties map to custom WordPress fields?
We assess the field types and WordPress API exposure, then map supported values. Notion properties must match their parent data source schema, and some computed properties are read-only.
What happens when a page is removed?
We agree on archive, unpublish or retain behavior before enabling deletion handling. A missing or inaccessible source record is not automatically treated as permission to delete public content.
Share your website and one example of the record you need in Notion. We will review the existing setup, agree on the data mapping and identify the access needed.
